Built in 1455, this building was the government's HQ for the Canary Islands for over 200 years. It is said to have been one of the first buildings on the islands. Commissioned in 1406 by Jean de Bethencourt, appointed King of the Canaries by the Castilian King Henry III.

Over the centuries, several noble families have lived in the house, which at times served as accommodation for the indigenous people, known as the Guanches, as evidenced by a stone set in the house. This stone is said to have magical powers, and many meanings are attributed to it. This stone has high sentimental value and is of great importance for the history of the Canary Islands with royal connotations.

Under the house there is a secret tunnel. During the 16th and 17th century the town's inhabitants would converge upon the Palacio at the first sign of invasion from Pirates. Within this building, they could access this tunnel which would enable them to flee underground and uphill, to the safety of the Castillo Santa Barbara. The entrance to the tunnel can be seen from the courtyard.

The construction of the house is first class, as only the best materials were used. The walls are 90 cm thick, consisting of gigantic rock and lava stones. Built-in furniture and the teak floor tiles throughout the property are made of the finest African hardwood. The rooms are 4.8 metres high, all the ceilings are made of wood, some of which was reclaimed from ships.

The whole property is surrounded and protected by high natural stone walls.

Currently one half of the house is used as a restaurant but can easily be converted back into a large residential home. The restaurant has two beautiful dining rooms, a large commercial kitchen, and a courtyard in the centre of the house. There are guest WCs, an additional patio, utility room and wine cellar.

On the ground level, when entering the property, there are three large rooms all of which are very spacious (versatile in use), and a bathroom. In the owner's private living space, in the heart of the house, there is a beautiful living room with many traditional features including a giant fireplace made of lava stones.
